Where to meet
The meeting point for Simon’s clinics is on the astroturf area outside the OTC.
Meeting point: what3words ///sailor.costumed.cabbage
Please meet on time at 10:00. We do not always meet ready to go and changed into wetsuit and watersports shoes as we have many hours on the water and the wind might not have filled in by 1000. However if the wind is perfect then being changed at 1000 is a good idea. There is no need to check in at the OTC desk in the shop unless you need assistance, need to hire kit for the clinic, need retail therapy or just want to say hello!
By car
The OTC is very easy to find by road. Follow directions to Portland through Weymouth, and once you go across the causeway onto Portland, take the left at the first roundabout. The WPNSA and ‘windsurfing school’ are signposted. The OTC building is the first building on your left, just the other side of the fence, next to the north-facing launch slipway. Free parking is either in the main WPNSA car park or in the huge overspill car park across the road (2 mins walk away).
By public transport
Weymouth and Portland have excellent public transport connections, with regular train arrivals and departures operated by South West Trains:
-
Direct hourly service to/ from London Waterloo (2hrs, 40mins)
-
Direct regular service to/ from Bristol Temple Meads (2hrs, 45mins)
-
Direct frequent service from Southampton Parkway & Southampton Station (approx. 1hr)
-
For train journey times and information please see www.nationalrail.co.uk or call National Rail Enquiries 08457 484950
From the train station aim to get bus number 1 or 601 operated by First Group, to Portland. These are the most frequent, with the Number 1 stopping opposite WPNSA when heading onto Portland.
